Create your own tile masterpiece at hands-on ceramics workshop Aug. 7 & 21

Learn the intricacies of clay tile making and add your own creative touch when Jackson College hosts a Pop-Up Ceramics class, Tile Mural, Aug. 7 and 21 in the STEAM Factory Ceramics Studio (105).

Whether you are a novice or an experienced ceramic artist, this workshop offers an immersive experience where you will discover the joy of transforming clay into a breathtaking work of art. Students will begin their projects Wednesday, Aug. 7, and complete them Wednesday, Aug. 21, with sessions from 5:30-9 p.m. Before day 2, your instructor will fire the project in the on-campus kiln. Day 2 students will complete the glaze process.

Community members 16 and up are invited to this tile-making class. Your skilled instructor will assist with rolling out slabs to cutting and shaping tiles of various sizes and shapes. Explore the endless possibilities of surface decoration techniques such as carving, painting and glazing to bring your mural to life with vibrant colors and textures.
