Jackson College Summer Concert Series promises sizzling sounds of jazz, popular hits & more!

Jackson Community Concert Band

Jackson College’s Summer Concert Series has grown to offer more great, free music, with performances planned both outdoors on the Potter Center back patio and indoors in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall!

This year’s Concert Series will include:

  • The Jackson French Quarter Traditional Jazz Band performs at 7 p.m. May 29 at 7 m. on the back patio. Enjoy the sounds of New Orleans with this traditional jazz band, with favorites like “When the Saints Go Marching In” and more!
  • Local favorites Big L and Code Blü will perform at 7 p.m. June 5 on the back patio. Tap your foot to the sounds of Jackson’s own Larry Sumner Jr. and his band, Big L and Code Blu! Playing popular favorites and their own hits.
  • Capital City Brass Band performs at 7 p.m. June 13 on the back patio. Featuring musicians from Jackson, Lansing, and all areas in between, the award-winning Capital City Brass Band has been exciting audiences since 2001!  Enjoy traditional brass band music, jazz, popular music & more!
  • Celebrate Father’s Day on June 16 with the Annual Trombonefest at 7 p.m. on the back patio. Enjoy a one-of-a-kind musical experience featuring nearly 30 trombones and a rockin’ rhythm section!
  • On June 18, the Jackson Community Concert Band presents a celebration concert at 7 p.m. in the Harold Sheffer Music Hall, Potter Center. Comprised of college & community members, the Concert Band does not disappoint! With classic and popular favorites, there is something for all.
  • Summer Band Camp students will present a finale performance on the back patio at 11:55 a.m. on July 3. Young people participating in summer band camp will share what they’ve learned with guests!

Concertgoers are welcome to bring lawn chairs for the outdoor performances, while some chairs will be available.
