Alex Kimberly

Alex Kimberly is the new head coach of the JCC Jets hockey team. Kimberly is a JCC alumnus who played for two years on the previous Jets hockey team. He was the assistant coach in the 2004-05 season, and was the head coach of the junior varsity program at Jackson High last year.

Originally from Ann Arbor, Kimberly started playing hockey at age 7, then moved to Stockbridge in about 1990.He played travel hockey in Lansing for a few years, played a year in Redford in the Detroit area, and made it to a few junior college exposure camps. His second year with the Jets, he was assistant team captain.

“I love the college,” Kimberly said. “I got my associate degree there, then got my bachelor’s degree through a 3+1 program through Siena Heights with classes offered at the College, so I’ve really gone to JCC about six years. I love hockey, and I put a lot of heart and soul into playing hockey.”

This season will be a year of rebuilding after JCC’s hockey program was discontinued in 2005, Kimberly said. “My expectations are real high that we will have a successful season. We won’t be able to go to the national tournament this first year, but my expectation is that next year, we will bring a national championship to JCC. We want to bring the banner home.”
