Leigh Ann Swihart
Head coach Leigh Ann Swihart made her college head coaching debut in fall 2007 for Jackson Community College. The Jets went 14-22 in their inaugural season, took second place in the Ancilla College tournament and first place in the Kankakee Community College tournament. The team fell short of making the regional tournament, but members are determined to make it there this year.
Coach Swihart began her coaching career in 1999 as a staff assistant for Michigan State University. While there, she worked under head coach Chuck Erbe, and the team never missed a NCAA bid and made it to the sweet 16. She also earned her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in kinesiology. She was pulling double duty while being the head coach for Columbia Central High School for the past six years. During her time at Columbia Central, she broke school records which included most wins in a season, first-ever district championship, back to back conference titles, and was voted Jackson Citizen Patriot’s Coach of the Year in 2005.
As a graduate of Concord Community Schools and a very successful volleyball program, Leigh Ann understands that the area is rich in volleyball tradition. Coach Swihart resides in Jackson with her husband, Scott, and their two daughters, Danni and Drew.
