Katie Johnson   

 

Assistant coach Katie Johnson returns to the Jets coaching staff for her second season.

Johnson is a Brooklyn native and graduate of Columbia Central High School, where she was coached by Leigh Ann Swihart.  She played varsity volleyball for Michigan State University for five years, and was team captain in 2005-2007seasons.  In 2007, she was ranked sixth overall in the Big Ten Conference for kills, averaging 4.52 per game.  In 2006 she was an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection. In 2007, Johnson was named NCAA All-American Honorable Mention.  In the 2007 season, the Spartan squad made it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.  After her collegiate career, Johnson took the opportunity to play professionally for the Korean Expressway Corporation in South Korea for three months.

Johnson is a graduate of MSU with a degree in apparel and textile design.  She is currently living in the Jackson area, where she is constantly busy with community activities, as well as helping with athletic events at Columbia Central High School.
