Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW)
Fall 2009 course meets the following dates:
- August 20, Thursday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
- September 11, Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
- October 9, Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
- October 30, Friday from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm
The Instructional Skills Workshop course brings together best practices in education and a proven process that fosters personal growth and reflection about the teaching/learning process. The course is highly focused on practice and personal teaching application. The ISW provides participants with a proven, safe, structured environment to look at their teaching skills and receive feedback. The course will include: Best practice in learning, lesson development, lesson assessment skills and feedback skills.
Course fees will cover meals, text, and 2 undergrad credits (arrangements for graduate credit made during first class)

NACCTEP National Scholarship
The 2008-2009 National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs National Scholarship Application is now available online at www.nacctep.org.
The purpose of the NACCTEP National Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance to community college students (undergraduate or alternative certification/post-baccalaureate program) who are studying to become teachers. Awards are for a total of $1000. The applicant's college MUST be a NACCTEP member community college. Applications are due by Friday, April 15, 2008.
Committe Agrees not to Sponsor Future Teachers Conference
Spring Arbor University, the Jackson Intermediate School District and Jackson Community College have enjoyed five tremendous years planning and providing for the future and new professionals Michigan’s largest Future Teachers Conference. Each year, well over 250 attendees from over 18 high schools, colleges and universities, and school districts in Michigan and Ohio have participated. This school year it was agreed upon by the all of the committee not to sponsor a conference. The subject will be visited next year in the fall of 2008 after teaching assignments have been issued. Thank you for your continued support in professional development for future teachers.
