Basketball teams to play to fight cancer

Jackson Community College’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will be taking part in Coaches vs. Cancer event on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse.

The event will kick off with the Hanover-Horton High School and Western High School junior varsity and varsity girls basketball games tipping off at 1:30 and 3 p.m. Then the Lady Jets basketball team will face Calvin College at 5:30 p.m. and the JCC men’s basketball team will face Kirtland Community College at 7:30 p.m.

There will be donations taken at the door, and a raffle. All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer Fund.

Coaches vs. Cancer is part of a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches that empowers basketball coaches, their teams and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. In addition to raising funds, it strives to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living among students, faculty, school staff, fans, and the community at large.
