Ceramics studio to host open house for community
Get your hands dirty when Jackson Community College welcomes the public to a ceramics studio open house, from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 in Bert Walker Hall, Room 210, Jackson campus.
Current JCC pottery and ceramics students will present throwing demonstrations, and there will be discussions and exhibitions of works completed and in-progress. There will be make-and-take projects for young people, including handprints in clay.
JCC began offering ceramics classes again in 2005, the first time since the 1980s, due to resurging interest in hands-on artwork and the establishment of a local pottery guild. JCC offers two ceramics courses, ART 121 Ceramics I: Foundations, and ART 122 Ceramics II: Wheel & Ceramic Sculpture.
Refreshments will be served at the open house, and there is no charge for this event.
