Students donate time, talent to design
T-shirts for local cancer fund
JCC students in Elizabeth Hayden’s Winter semester graphic design class had the opportunity to see firsthand how their artwork can help a worthy cause.
Students designed T-shirts as a fund-raiser for Jackson’s Mission of Hope Cancer Fund organization. Students donated their time for this organization in exchange for a professional piece for their student portfolios.
Electrician field offers active, hands-on career that’s here to stay
Electricians bring electricity into homes, businesses and factories. Jackson Community College offers an associate degree and certificate in electrician and a concentration in electrical basics. Those attending JCC may seek work in the electrical field, or continue in an apprenticeship with a registered program such as the Jackson Area Manufacturers Association (JAMA).
‘Call Lee’ effort helps more students connect with college
JCC’s Lee Hampton wants to make sure everyone who is interested in going to college has his or her questions answered!
To help meet the needs of diverse populations who may be hesitant to seek out more information about college, Hampton, director of the Office of Multicultural Relations, and JCC are launching a new effort to “Call Lee,” providing another friendly, helpful face to answer questions for prospective and current students.
Radiography careers combine helping people, high technology
For a challenging medical career where workers touch patients’ lives, radiography offers an abundance of opportunity.
Radiography is an allied health career that examines patients using radiation, ultrasound or magnetic fields. Radiographers, also referred to radiologic technologists, produce X-rays and use other imaging techniques essential in diagnosing medical problems.
